BBC America Atlantis Special

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

We know we’re already late wishing everyone that, but we’re Atlanteans! We’re either fighting mythical creatures sent to kill us, drinking wine or trying to come up with a genius theorem! Or hiding in our caves waiting for a cure…probably that one.

To kick off our 2014 in style, BBC America have posted an Atlantis Insider Special with all sorts of behind the scenes goodies! Thanks to Robert for this special New Year gift!

Jack, Mark and Robert on Radio 2

The boys (Jack, Mark and Robert) were just on the Graham Norton Show on Radio 2 where he asked them some questions about themselves, the series and they answered a few fan questions. We couldn’t make out some of the interview due to them laughing so much! We did our best to get the little bits and bobs.

  • Robert (Emms) was the first person cast for Atlantis.
  • The Temple of Poseidon is actually one massive green room that the cast film in.
  • Jack’s dad is an actor, Mum is a choreographer, 3 brothers (one who is an actor, another a model, another in Cirque Du Soleil!)
  • Their favourite episodes?: Mark liked the bull leaping episode (thought it was a great story), Robert and Jack both liked the episode in Hades, though the 12th episode ends on a cliffhanger and is meant to be good!
  • The final two episodes are a lot darker than before and there may be some major deaths involved!
  • Apparently the audience will end up knowing more about Jason and his story than Jason does!
  • Most of the male cast seem to end up topless/naked during filming, including Robert and a space hopper? Did we hear that right? 😮

For those who can listen to shows on the website, we will bring you the link so you can listen to the interview all over again!

GOOD NEWS: Atlantis gets a second series!

Nice work, everyone!

It seems that the Gods (at the BBC) have realised what brave, talented and excitable citizens we Atlantians are and have decided to let our favourite people survive for another series!

We’re so happy and congrats to the Atlantis cast and crew from such amazing news!!

Atlantis Takes Over MIPCOM

As we previously reported early on last week, Jack and Aiysha were going to be with the Atlantis producers at Cannes to promote the show at MIPCOM. In true BBC fashion, they didn’t do it half-hearted! A giant 3D art of the teaser poster (without the cast) was painted onto the ground and it looks amazing!

Looks like it’s not just us that are going crazy for this show!

BTS Segment on Blue Peter

Blue Peter (a UK children show) had a fun segment from behind the scenes of Atlantis where presenter Lindsey Russell got to visit the set in Chepstow, interview Jack and Sarah and help out making a costume for the show.

AtlantisBPAtlantisBP3

For centuries, explorers have risked their lives searching for this island, but today, I can reveal that I, Lindsey Russell of Blue Peter, have found it and it’s…er…here in Wales in this industrial estate.

But it’s inside the old warehouse where the legends come to life. I’m on the set of the brand new BBC drama Atlantis and it’s incredible here! It feels like we’re in another world.

Actor Jack Donnelly plays Jason, our dashing, daring hero. Fighting foes is a full-time job, but I managed to catch up with Jack between scenes.

Jack: Jason is one of the main three characters in the show.
Lindsey: So you get to do a lot of fighting and stunts? Some really cool stuff..
Jack: Yeah, absolutely! You get to do it all! When I got the job, I was like ‘Yesssss!’  I mean…you audition for alsorts of stuff, but I was like ‘I can sword fight, I can horse ride! I get to be in battle sequences!

The rest of the segment goes on to show the costume side of the show. How they created the costumes for characters like Ariadne and Pasiphae. If you want to read/see images of that, let us know and we’ll add them!
