Successful Launch and Epic Time Lapse

Two pieces of news popped into our pigeon owl from the web gods so we thought we’d bunch them together since both of them are rather epic! The first is  that BBC have posted that the opening episode to Atlantis launched with a massive audience of 8.4 milliion!

That’s a lot of Atlantians!

The other is an amazing time-lapse of the 3D artwork done for Cannes! It looks incredible!

Watch it and be amazed whilst humming along to the theme tune!

Two Atlantis 1×03 Previews

BBC have released two previews for tomorrow’s episode ‘A Boy Of No Consequence’.

As usual, if you want to see what happens, watch, and if you don’t, then maybe draw some fanart from the pictures you’ve seen! Everyone gets to get involved!

We definitely see Heparian (Oliver Walker) being the guy everyone loves to hate and bull-leaping looks like it could be fun if you didn’t add in the nasty fate instore for you if you lose!

Teasers for 1×03: Boy of No Consequence

Digital Spy have posted some episode teasers and pictures for this Saturday’s episode.

1. Jason leaps into action without thinking… and it costs him dearly.
2. “You’ll find the extent of his ignorance truly astonishing.”
3. Hercules has noticed those saucy glances Ariadne’s been shooting Jason!
4. “It is a masculine musk!”
5. Jack Donnelly lovers rejoice – Jason is shirtless for the entirety of the episode’s second half…
6. “For a man of such confidence, you looked truly terrified.”
7. Someone displays a previously unseen talent, which could mean trouble for our heroes…
8. “You are a fool with no knowledge of women!”
9. Medusa (Jemima Rooper) is not the only lady to have caught Hercules’s eye…
10. “I always dreamed I’d die in the arms of a beautiful woman…”

Is everyone excited for the bull leaping?

Atlantis Takes Over MIPCOM

As we previously reported early on last week, Jack and Aiysha were going to be with the Atlantis producers at Cannes to promote the show at MIPCOM. In true BBC fashion, they didn’t do it half-hearted! A giant 3D art of the teaser poster (without the cast) was painted onto the ground and it looks amazing!

Looks like it’s not just us that are going crazy for this show!

Mark Addy Confirmed for Wales Comic Con 2014

We got this lovely news this morning!

If you haven’t heard of Wales Comic Con, it’s basically a small convention that is held in North Wales and it’s had some pretty impressive guests in the past like people from Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, Doctor Who, Buffy…the list goes on.

We’re not sure if any other cast will be joining Mark next year, but we shall certainly have to wait and find out!

BTS Segment on Blue Peter

Blue Peter (a UK children show) had a fun segment from behind the scenes of Atlantis where presenter Lindsey Russell got to visit the set in Chepstow, interview Jack and Sarah and help out making a costume for the show.

For centuries, explorers have risked their lives searching for this island, but today, I can reveal that I, Lindsey Russell of Blue Peter, have found it and it’s…er…here in Wales in this industrial estate.

But it’s inside the old warehouse where the legends come to life. I’m on the set of the brand new BBC drama Atlantis and it’s incredible here! It feels like we’re in another world.

Actor Jack Donnelly plays Jason, our dashing, daring hero. Fighting foes is a full-time job, but I managed to catch up with Jack between scenes.

Jack: Jason is one of the main three characters in the show.
Lindsey: So you get to do a lot of fighting and stunts? Some really cool stuff..
Jack: Yeah, absolutely! You get to do it all! When I got the job, I was like ‘Yesssss!’  I mean…you audition for alsorts of stuff, but I was like ‘I can sword fight, I can horse ride! I get to be in battle sequences!

The rest of the segment goes on to show the costume side of the show. How they created the costumes for characters like Ariadne and Pasiphae. If you want to read/see images of that, let us know and we’ll add them!

Episode One of Atlantis Airs!

Well, Atlantians/Atlanteans…

It happened!

AtlantisAfter months and months of waiting for it to happen, the BBC finally gave us the very first episode of Atlantis and wasn’t it epic?! We won’t go into too much detail on this post (we’ll be having a special spoilers page!) but everything about that show makes you want to see it again and again!

It’s official we’re already on the side of the triangles and it seems that two of the characters have already been paired together on Tumblr. We’ll allow you to decide which we’re talking about.

We’d love to know what people thought! You can either leave us a comment or tweet on @MythofAtlantis!

Spoiler review coming soon!

Atlantis Takes Over Television and Radio

It was the battle of the breakfast television vs radio today!

JulietSte1

First, we had Mark Addy on Daybreak talking about his time as Hercules. We’ll add a transcript of the interview for those who can’t watch it online and then, it was Juliet Stevenson on BBC Breakfast talking about being the Oracle (the same goes with this as well!).

For UK citizens, the links to watch this morning’s interviews are BBC and ITV (Mark comes in at 8:40am!).

If this wasn’t enough Atlantis to fill your day, Juliet appeared again but this time with Sarah Parish on Radio 2 with Steve Wright.

On tonight’s The One Show, Sarah spoke about being Queen of Atlantis and yorkshire pudding kingdoms?

SarahParish1

Busy day for the cast! We hope the Oracle predicts a footspa for them!

Johnny Capps on being ‘ready for the critics’

Radio One’s Newsbeat have interviewed one of Atlantis‘ executive producers, Johnny Capp, and he has explained that he is ready for when the critics talk about the show which airs its first episode this Saturday.

JohnnyCappsDirector

It’s not necessarily about what the reviewers said.

I mean obviously you want the reviewers to like it and you want it to be pick of the day. But at the end of the day, it’s about what the audience like and Merlin took a while.

What are your thoughts? Do you think the critics will love/hate/be unsure about Atlantis?
